The Deepfried Dub Sound System is a Melbourne based electronic duo bringing together the talents of local producers B.Hartless (Ben Hartley) and Dr.Benway (Ben Dudding). The Deepfried sound is an eclectic mix of dubwise vibes and fat beats that cross such diverse genres as Dub, Drum ‘n Bass, Electro, House and Breakbeat. Having set up a studio in Melbourne (Polygon Labs) over the last five years, these two Kiwi boys have a long musical history in the early electronic dance scene in New Zealand. It all started in 1993 when Ben (Dudding) purchased a
sampler with his student loan money and the two (then flatmates) started
writing beats and sampling anything that moved. In 1997 Redivider released the track ‘isorhythmic’ on the compilation ‘AK ‘97’, a collaborative project documenting the Auckland electronica scene at the time. Now based in Melbourne, Ben and Ben continue to produce their sound in collaboration with other artists at the polygon lab studios. Deepfried Dub are currently writing and remixing tunes and have tracks being released on the influential N.Z ‘Loop’ label and are looking forward to playing Earthdance at Federation Square on Sept 18th . B HARTLESS: Working in the polygon labs studio B. Hartless (a.k.a.
Ben Hartley) has produced numerous quality tracks including the hit
song “Slumber” with his sister, up and coming vocalist ‘Lotus’,
which has recently had much radio play Throughout New Zealand. Currently working with Australian artists such as Jess Cornelius and Deep Fried Dub Sound Systems, B Hartless is rapidly gaining a name as one of Melbourne’s freshest new DJ/Producers. B Hartless is presently organising and holding residencies at regular club nights such as Deep Fried and Comfy breaks alongside some of Melbourne’s finest Dj’s and dance music producers. DR BENWAY: Dr Benway (a.k.a. Ben Dudding) with his unique blend
of contemporary beats and Aotearoa flavours is establishing himself

With a strong professional background in multimedia & design spanning well over half a decade & an amateur interest in motion graphics of various media since childhood, Nick began dabbling in live performance video in 1999 & a videophile was born. Since then his style has developed through gigs secured through his association with nine09 Records (co-run with Sam Speaight), as well as various other events for promoters around Australia. This has led Spook to work on a range of the largest productions in Sydney, across a variety of musical genres, while supporting some of the freshest & greatest acts in the world today. With techniques comparable to a DJ, Spook takes a range of video effects & sources, (including live footage, various animation styles, themed pre-prepared clips, DJ titles & logos), and mixes them together to create a visual montage intrinsically connected to the music of the event. By playing off the mood of the crowd, the artists performing, & his own experience, Spook has been said to be able to create an all-encompassing vibe to the party, filling a gap between the audience, the music & the performing artist, which can often be left void. Spook's commitment to live spontaneity & continual experimentation has seen him build a style comparable to none, while earning him commendations from many of the global music industry's elite.
